Fort Worth Key Website + Publishing System
An outdated local magazine site rebuilt with cleaner design, easier updates, affiliate links, and more ways to earn.
This project started with a website need, but the real goal was to make the whole experience easier for the business and the people using the site.

The Problem
The original Fort Worth Key site was outdated. It was harder than it needed to be to update, manage magazine issues, add useful links, and support more ways for the business to earn money.
The Solution
The solution was to build a website that looked clear on the front end and had the right support behind the scenes.
- Website rebuild and design cleanup
- Moved the site from classic editing to native block editing
- Removed extra design plugins
- Affiliate link areas for guides and recommendations
- More payment and revenue paths across the site
- Custom event and calendar system
- Magazine upload flow with automatic DigitalOcean offloading
- Magazine view pages using 3D flipbook tools
- Moved magazine hosting away from Issuu
- Analytics tracking
- Brevo newsletter signup setup with ACF form
- Automatic newsletter drafts from updated website data
- Redesigned weekly events email
- Backend content organization
- System workflows detailed in the Systems section
How the Solution Works
The site runs on WordPress with a cleaner block-based setup. Guide pages can include affiliate links and clearer calls to action, so useful recommendations can also support the business. When a new magazine issue is uploaded, the issue area updates across the site, the file can be offloaded to DigitalOcean Space, and each issue gets its own view page. The event calendar was also rebuilt with Kadence Blocks, custom code, and the eFish calendar plugin so the site runs faster and stays easier to control. The Brevo newsletter flow is already live: updated website data helps create newsletter drafts, the publisher updates the intro paragraph before the send is finalized, and the weekly events email has a cleaner design. The deeper workflow steps are broken out in the Systems projects.

Why the Solution Matters
"The site now looks current and works harder for the business. The team can update content more easily, publish magazines with fewer steps, use affiliate links where they fit, and keep more payment options open as the site grows."
